Canning College

Whether you are an experienced canner who has preserved food for years or a novice wanting to learn more about home canning, this is the course for you. Course designed to teach through hands-on demonstrations, and provide a food safety update. Two sessions: Water bath and pressure canning. Before you begin the process of canning, you need to make sure that you come to the Extension Office to have your pressure canner gauge tested Cost: FREE National Center for Home Food Preservation information Cost: TBA. 


Diabetic Cooking School

Hand’s-on cooking; quick and easy recipes, taste testing, education on managing diabetes and healthy lifestyles, each participant receives a cookbook and other materials. Four/two hour sessions.


Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)

As part of a group, you will work with a CDC trained lifestyle coach and other participants to learn the skills you need to make lasting lifestyle changes. You will learn to eat healthy, add physical activity to your life, manage stress, stay motivated and solve problems that can get in the way of healthy changes. DPP groups meet once a week for 16 weeks, then once a month for 6 months to help maintain your lifestyle changes. Watch video 


eWellness

Web-based program that promotes a few healthy lifestyle behaviors that are the foundation for wellness. The program consists of short-term (eight-week) phases so that awards and recognition could be provided frequently. But healthy living is a lifetime effort; so, soon after a phase ends and recognition of teams has occurred, a new phase soon starts and the cycle is repeated. eWellness is designed for groups such as worksites, churches, schools, community groups, etc. and a group generally consists of several teams.  Cost: Free
